Missouri Medication Certification Program

Missouri regulations require anyone who administers medication to a child in a residential-care setting to have completed a certified training program. MCCA provides such a program to assist child-welfare professionals in meeting these requirements.

Specific rule (From 13 CSR 35-71.075 (5)(A)):

“All medication shall be prescribed by a licensed physician, and administered by a licensed nurse or staff who have successfully completed and maintained, at a minimum, the Level 1, Medication Aide Training Program or a recognized medication certification training program, approved by the division for children in residential treatment.”

Our medication-certification training is:

  • Easy to administer locally
  • Approved by the state of Missouri Department of Social Services, Children’s Division
  • The only training program focused on the medication needs of children in a group setting

Third regional convening for #FFPSA in North KC (thx to @AECFNews for facilitating). One observation: In Jackson County, most common reasons for kids entering care: parental substance abuse, neglect and inadequate housing - @DSS_Missouri 's Susan Savage (not pictured)
